Sounds of Spring 2024
As every year, Sonidos de Primavera opens the new season. Three concerts shape the programme that will take place in the Foundation as well as in nearby churches. On Saturday 22nd at 19:00 the cycle of music will begin with the concert by Concerto 1700 with the programme "Madrid-Paris. The trios of the Enlightenment". which will offer a repertoire that will bring the public closer to the Hispanic musical heritage of the 17th and 18th centuries.
Music in Al-Andalus is the name of the programme with which the quintet Entrebescant will bring us closer to the cultural panorama of the medieval Iberian Peninsula. Through Arab, Sephardic and Christian songs, they explore the everyday life of these three cultures, highlighting the links and connections between them. It will take place on March 30th at 18:30 in the Parish Church of Ambasaguas de Curueño.
On Saturday 6 April at 19:00, the FCAYC auditorium will host the proposal of Qdúo PercussionThey present a concert in two parts. The first focuses on the use of unconventional instruments and a second part with a programme designed for marimba and vibraphone.
Concerto 1700
Founded in 2015 by violinist Daniel Pinteño, Concerto 1700 has since its inception aspired to the recovery and dissemination of the Hispanic musical heritage of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. To carry out its artistic project, it uses original period instruments, as well as a rigorous musicological study of the performance practice of the period. Concerto 1700 is a group of variable formation and this versatility allows it to tackle any repertoire without losing any of its personality.
This concert is dedicated to music composed for two violins and cello during the reign of Charles IV in Spain. Luigi Boccherini, Gaetano Brunetti and José Castel, the three composers featured in this concert programme, give a good example of chamber music composed for the court of a music-loving king and for civil society, showing us a Spain connected with the most innovative musical currents of its time.
Entrebescant
Sonidos de primavera continues with its cycle of concerts to celebrate the arrival of this new season. In this second date of the festival, the Fundación Cerezales Antonino y Cinia invites Entrebescant, a group of five young performers and researchers united by their interest in the medieval and traditional Spanish heritage. Sacred and courtly music and traditional songs and dances are 'intertwined' with songs, romances, biographies or chronicles. With the sound of their instruments, historical or traditional, their voices, and through medieval Iberian languages, Entrebescant tells stories of another time, in a concert that seeks to be a space of mediation for the dissemination and vindication of historical heritage.
On this occasion, they will present Música en Al-Ándalus, a programme that includes pieces from the Cantigas de Santa María, the Códice de las Huelgas and the Romancero sefardí de Marruecos, along with other pieces. With this selection of pieces, Entrebescant wanted to portray, through music, the cultural panorama of the medieval Iberian Peninsula. Through Arab, Sephardic and Christian songs, the group explores the everyday life of these three cultures and highlights the links and connections between them.
Qduo Percussion
A programme of contemporary music for percussion will bring a new year of Sonidos de primavera to a close. The programme, articulated in two parts, will have a first part designed for non-conventional instruments such as pots (Flowerpot music), a guitar used as a percussion instrument (Seesaw) or the prepared vibraphone. Pieces by Emma O'Halloran, Iván Treviño, Libby Larsen and Pilar Miralles will be played. The second part changes the register of the concert with two works for marimba and vibraphone: Toccata y PassacagliaThese pieces show the sound, timbre and musical possibilities of these two instruments through pieces by Elliot Cole, Anders Koppel or Anna Ignatowicz.
Access to the concerts is free of charge and requires an invitation, which can be easily obtained through FCAYC.org and the eventbrite platform on Mondays prior to each concert.
