Coder Dojo is a programming club for girls and boys that was started in 2011 in Ireland with the aim of teaching children how to program. In a few months it spread around the world and now CoderDojo is a network with more than 660 clubs in more than 56 countries. In Spain there are 9 officially registered.

In the summer of 2015 the Foundation launched the one of the first CoderDojos in the countryside, at its headquarters in Cerezales del Condado. It lasted one week. This Christmas, we propose a second edition so that the children who participated in the summer and other new ones can continue investigating and learning.
The community is made up of mentors who come on a voluntary basis, children and young people who come free of charge, and organisers and institutions who lend their space for the sessions to take place. There, young people learn to programme and explore technology in an informal and creative environment.
In CoderDojo the free software and work with free programming tools. Some of the things you usually learn are: Scratch, HTML, Javascript, Arduino, Processing or Android... depending on the club and the mentors who teach it.

The way it works is not like a traditional classroom but is based on interest groups, peer learning, tutoring and self-learning. First, an attempt is made to get a series of “mentors/teachers” who can teach some kind of knowledge. Then, during the meetings, the children are grouped by affinity around the different mentors or among themselves to learn the technology of their choice.

Mentors at the Christmas workshop:
Alfredo Calosci. Architect and designer of interactive visuals. Mentor of CoderDojo at MediaLab Prado.
Monica Montoya. Graduate in Fine Arts and Master's Degree in Specific Didactics in the Classroom, Museum and Natural Spaces. Advisor of the didactic area of FCAYC and coordinator of the programming club Coder Dojo Madrid-Aluche.
