Author, director and swinging singing actor and puppeteer – Pavel Vangeli.
A very special musical performance, which is based on jazz, blues and swing music and situational humor of strings marionettes. An actor and puppeteer plays with marionettes on strings and sings live jazz songs in the place of these puppets.
The marionette characters: the Angel, Devil, Clowns, Fat Blackman, Shipwrecked and Skeletons family entertain audience in six different sketches. The marionettes play musical instruments and sing, dance or juggle. There is a straight contact among the actor, marionettes and the audience.
The beautiful string marionettes (60-70 cm high) have special effects. While the marionettes are talking and singing, they can open mouth, roll eyes, stretch their neck and perform various surprising gags, that make the audience burst out laughing.
The quotation from the press: The Golden Marionette 2000 (Mittelfest Udine-Cividale, Italy): The Czech artist Pavel Vangeli was awarded the prize „Golden Marionette“ for his performance „The Swinging Marionettes“. The puppeteer Pavel Vangeli won his prize in a competition comprising of twenty different companies involving over fifty performances. The jury especially appreciated „the superb technique of Vangeli, who is able to combine the sophisticated mastery of handling puppets with an ironic and yet poetic vision of the world in direct and seemingly simple manner“.
