In their own right, Maria Arnal and Marcel Bagés present 45 cerebros y 1 corazón (Fina Estampa, 2017). They recently won the Premi Ciutat de Barcelona de Música for their second EP, Verbena, The album, chosen Best National Single by Rockdelux magazine and Artistic Work of the Year according to the readers of Time Out, the vocalist from Badalona (Barcelona) and the guitarist from Flix (Tarragona) continue the chain of transmission of popular music in the best possible way: creating their own songs that are incorporated into their project to rescue field recordings, digitised archives and sound libraries of the Iberian Peninsula. Already from the title, a lyric that Maria wrote when she read the news of the raising of a Civil War grave in La Pedraja (Burgos), 45 brains and 1 heart speaks of what we remember and what they want us to forget. Closer to the thrilling emotion of their live performance, the new takes of Ball del Vetlatori, present on their self-released first EP Remescles, Acoples i Melismes (2015) o To life (Ovidi Montllor) are the bridge to seven previously unreleased works that are here to stay, such as The people (adaptation of a legendary poem by Joan Brossa), the magnetic Dismemory And, of course, You who come to haunt me, a clear candidate for single of the year.
