Antonio Lizana drinks from the fountains of Flamenco since he was very young in San Fernando, Camarón’s island. His concern for exploring all the possibilities offered by his first instrument, saxophone, led him to enrol academic training in Classical Music and Jazz. During this learning he feels the need to take Flamenco beyond its limits and forms the project Antonio Lizana Group, where he composes, writes, sings and plays sax with the tradition of Flamenco in one hand and the jazz avant-garde in the other.
In their first album, De Viento, Antonio decides to introduce new colours from his homeland, like guitars, drums and choirs, mixed with drums, bass, sax and piano, achieving their current sound. This brings closer two styles so remote and so connected like Flamenco and Jazz. Mari from Chambao or Julián Sánchez collaborate in this album.
The band offers a vibrant live, full of freshness and intensity, a journey from Cádiz to New York, with a message of sobriety but also festive.
