Formed in Madrid by four young musicians connected with the aim of spreading the repertoire of string quartets and communicating the emotion and passion of this music. They bring closer to the public a wide variety of works of several styles. Thus they offer an idea of the evolution of music through time: from Baroque to contemporary music, without letting aside Spanish music.
During their fomative period they have had the chance to receive lessons from Cuarteto Casals, Endellion String Quartet, Cuarteto Auryn, Cuarteto Parkanyi, Stephan Metz, Erberhard Felt, David Quiggle, Stephan Goerner, Mikhail Milman, Giorgi Fedorenko, Grigori Kovalevski, Johannes Meissi, Ilan Gronich, Isabel Charisius and members of the Silvestri String Quartet and Transylvan String Quartet.
The quartet members has been always bonded to music in Madrid’s region, playing in many concert halls. They have also taken part in different festivals, courses and in national and international chamber music contests. Its members have gained the 1st Prize of I Askalon Festival.
Besides their interest for playing the normal string quartet repertoire, they have been able to adapt and arrange other pieces of musical history.
Cuarteto Bécquer is the resident quartet at Museo Nacional del Romanticismo since 2012.
