Course on Contemporary Culture: Possibilities of listening: analysis and proposals from artistic practices.

Past event
16 Sep 2022 - 17 Sep 2022
FCAYC

On Friday 16 and Saturday 17 September, FCAYC, together with MUSAC and the University of León, is organising a course on Contemporary Culture that proposes, through lectures, practical sessions and performances, an opening to the sense of listening and the possibilities that artistic creation weaves around it from a broad perspective. The activity is an opportunity to delve into contemporary art, both in its keys and its relevance at the present time and is aimed at artists, students and anyone interested in art, artistic practices and research, art history, cultural management, aesthetics, anthropology, curatorship, art education and critical thinking.

The course has the possibility of recognition of one ECTS credit for university students, and is aimed at artists, students and anyone interested in art and artistic research, without previous knowledge of art being necessary to participate in it.

The first day will take place at MUSAC and will feature two sessions by art critic, teacher and curator Haizea Barcenilla and artist and researcher Susana Cámara Leret. At 19:00, the day will culminate with a performance by the artist Derek Van Den Bulcke in collaboration with the dancer Carmen Muñoz.

On Saturday 17 September, the participants will travel to Cerezales del Condado, where they will be given presentations by the cultural researcher and curator Natalia Piñuel and the cultural researcher, visual artist and memera Laura Tabares. At 7 p.m., the artist Laia Estruch will give two performances.

The course is articulated as a learning space that runs through three symbolic layers: Surface, Atmosphere and Subsoil. The transversality of artistic practices in the 21st century occupy the section Surface area; the importance of including the living - in all its registers -, the hybridisation of knowledge or the recognition of artistic research outlines the contours of the Atmosphere. From Underground we will be guided by performances that amplify less orthodox and conventional listening processes.

All this makes up a programme that will show unforeseen links with contemporaneity; languages, bodies and archives that make audible some territories that we do not count on.
