In the raw: relations as they are es el resultado de una extensa conversación iniciada por el Área Curatorial de FCAYC hace más de dos años con la artista portuguesa Fernanda Fragateiro, nacida en Montijo (Portugal), materializada en un proyecto específico para el espacio de la sala  de exposiciones de la Fundación Cerezales Antonino y Cinia y una publicación.

Materials Lab, The exhibition, a deep and complex archive of work in permanent evolution, developed by Fernanda Fragateiro on the basis of a research residency proposed by the Harvard Art Museum, acts as a trigger for dialogue. The multiplicity of layers of information and the contemporary historical variables that this archive incorporates propose new readings of today through the pillars that make up Fernanda Fragateiro's work as a whole - architecture, urbanism, social movements (race, gender), politics and landscape, among others.

Materials Lab unfolds on this occasion as a resounding statement in accordance with the industriousness and cadence of a place of material production, a shipyard -estaleiro in Portuguese-, irrigating the exhibition space with the images, possibilities and potential relations necessary to call for the collective construction of a renewed present.

Fernanda Fragateiro (Montijo, 1962) vive y trabaja en Lisboa.

Desde la tridimensionalidad y la tensión entre la arquitectura y la escultura, el trabajo de Fernanda Fragateiro potencia la relación con cada lugar, invitando al espectador a situarse en lo performativo. Algunos de sus proyectos son el resultado de colaboraciones con arquitectos/as, paisajistas, artistas y performers.

Su trabajo ha sido expuesto en diferentes museos e instituciones como Bomba Gens Centre d’Art (Valencia), Galleria Nazionale d’Arte Moderna Contemporanea (Roma), Museu de Miguel Art Urrutia (Bogotá), MAAT – Museum of Architecture, Art and Technology (Lisboa), CaixaForum (Barcelona), Palais des Beaux-Arts (París), Carpenter Center for the Visual Arts, Harvard University (Cambridge), The Bronx Museum of the Arts (Nueva York), MUAC – Museo Universitario Arte Contemporáneo (Ciudad de México), Centro Cultural de Belém (Lisboa), Serralves Foundation (Oporto), Museu Calouste Gulbenkian (Lisboa), entre otras.

La representan la Galería Elba Benítez (Madrid), Bienvenu Steinberg & Partner Gallery (Nueva York), Galeria Filomena Soares (Lisboa) e Irène Laub Gallery (Bruselas).
