The Ensemble Quadrivium was founded in 2007 in the Swiss city of Basel under the direction of Jesús Ángel Rodríguez Recio. Its repertoire focuses on the world of early music, showing special interest in the recovery of little-known works, but without neglecting the performance of others that are already part of the usual repertoire. The ensemble's formation is variable, depending on the different programmes it performs.
The group has highly qualified musicians who have developed an intense concert activity, performing in numerous festivals and concerts in countries such as Mexico, the United States, Switzerland, France, Germany, Canada, Spain, Italy, Portugal and Lithuania.
The members of the ensemble have extensive training in the field of early music and have studied with distinguished teachers such as Hopkinson Smith, José Miguel Moreno, Paolo Pandolfo, Jordi Savall, Hans Martin Linde, Chiara Banquini, Carlos Mena, Emma Kirkby and Jill Fellman, among others.
Ensemble Quadrivium has participated in different festivals, cycles and concerts, such as the “III and VI Ciclo de Música sacra Maestro de la Roza” in Oviedo, the closing of the “XI Jornadas Jacobeas” in León, the “Verano cultural de Valdelugueros 2008”, the “XXXII Festival de Música Antigua de Barcelona”, the “Encuentros Musicales en la Colegiata” of Arbas del Puerto or the cycle of concerts “Antiqva” of the Obra social “la Caixa”, which took place in Barcelona, Cordoba and Toledo.
