Impromtu Dúo are David Martin Gutiérrez and David Johnson Huidobro. This duo was formed at the Conservatorio Profesional de Música de León, when its members were studying Professional Education, participating in numerous auditions.

 

David Martín Gutiérrez

He was born in León (Spain) in 1995. He began his musical studies at the Conservatorio Profesional de León “José Castro Ovejero”, with Joaquín Ordóñez and Eva Mª Rodríguez, with whom he completed the Professional Grade and obtained the Extraordinary Prize for the End of Professional Education of the community of Castilla y León.
In the 2013-2014 academic year he entered the Reina Sofía School of Music, in the Chair of Cello, under the tutelage of Professor Natalia Shakhovskaya, continuing with Professor Ivan Monighetti. He is currently studying with Professor Jens Peter Maintz. In June 2018 she received from the hands of HM Queen Sofia the Award for the Most Outstanding Cello Student in the Chair of Jens Peter Maintz.
He has been taught by great teachers such as Truls Mork, Philippe Müller, Frans Helmerson, Alexander Rudin and Gary Hoffman, as well as chamber music by Ferenc Rados, Günter Pichler, Veronika Hagen and Heime Müller.
In 2015 he won the Second Prize at the International Cello Competition “Villa de Llanes», allowing him to make a concert tour around Asturias. In 2018 he received the First Prize in the 89th Permanent Competition of Juventudes Musicales de España and the First Prize in the International Competition “Pedro Bote». He also won the Juventudes Musicales de Madrid scholarship for the 2018/19 academic year, a very important aid to continue with his training.
As for chamber music, together with the Haendel Quartet, he was awarded the Prize for the Most Outstanding String Quartet by HM The Queen Sofia in 2016. He is currently a member of the Trio Schola, with which he was selected in 2017 to participate in the International Chamber Music Festival “Fundación MonteLeón” and in the Fundación Juan March in Madrid.

David Johnson Huidobro

David Johnson Huidobro (León, 1995) began his piano studies at the Escuela Municipal de Música with the teacher Jose Miguel Lera, and in 2012 he graduated from the Conservatorio Profesional de Música “José Castro Ovejero” in León with the piano teacher Mariló Gutiérrez, obtaining the highest marks.
He continues his studies at the Conservatorio Superior de Música “Bonifacio Gil” in Badajoz with Professor Alexander Kandelaki, finishing in June 2018.
He has received awards including the Special Prize “Instituto Leonés de Cultura” to the best contestant of the province of León (2012) in the XIV edition of the National Piano Competition “Música en el Río del Oro” and the Extraordinary Prize of Music of Castilla y León (2012).
He has taken advanced courses such as the Forum Musikae Summer Music Course in Madrid (2013) and the Valle del Ambroz Music Performance Course (2014 and 2015), Summer Music Course at the Béla Bartók Music School (Békéscsaba, Hungary, 2016) or the Summer Music Course at the Kraków Music Academy (Kraków, 2018), and received masterclasses from pianists such as Márta Gulyás, Konstanze Eickhorst, David Kuyken, Luis Fernando Pérez, Marta Araúzo, José Luis Castillo, etc.
He has given important concerts, including the concert of the Extraordinary Awards 2012 (2013), the concert at the Teatro Principal de Pontevedra awarded by the foundation “Rutas del Románico” (2013) and has participated in the X and XI Cycles of Contemporary Music of Badajoz (2017, 2018).
