The euphonium player Raúl Sabiote and the composer Pilar Miralles are part of the third edition of the JME-FCAYC Residency Programme, the result of the collaboration between Juventudes Musicales de España and the Fundación Cerezales Antonino y Cinia. After a week of working together at FCAYC, the musicians will premiere in this concert a work by Pilar Miralles created expressly within the framework of the collaboration. The concert programme also includes works by Szentpali, Stevens, Falcone, Scott and Bryant.
At fresh water, the work composed by Miralles, the euphonium coexists with the sound of a fountain. The subtlety of the small stream of water and the breathing through the metal invite a calm dialogue in which the ideas of rest, contemplation and unproductivity catalyse the relationship with the space. A space that goes beyond the usual limits of the stage, inviting the performer to use an existing fountain - if there were one - in the site of the concert and to the audience to listen beyond the time of the concert.
Raúl Sabiote (Almería, 1998) is an euphonium player and lives in Switzerland, where he works as a performer, conductor and teacher. He was awarded first prize in the 107th edition of the Concurso de Juventudes Musicales de España in the Wind-Metal category. Pilar Miralles (Almería, 1997) is a composer and sound artist. She has received the first prize in the XXXIV edition of the Premio Jóvenes Compositores Fundación SGAE-CNDM, thanks to which she is currently the Composer-in-Residence of the Red de Músicas de Juventudes Musicales de España.
