La Ritirata Permormance

23 April, 2011

Founded during Josetxu Obregón’s residence in Holland, La Ritirata owes its name to the last movement of a renown quintet composed by Luigi Boccherini in Madrid and entitled La Musica Notturna delle strade di Madrid.

They perform in festivals and prestigious music halls such as Musika-Música (la Folle Journée) in Euskalduna Jauregia Bilbao, National Grand Theatre of Beijing, CNART Early Music Festival in Mexico City the Closing Act of the Spanish Presidency of the EU in Tokyo, CMB Versailles as well as in a great number of Spanish festivals such as Jaca, Sevilla, Lekeitio, Madrid, Cáceres, Motril, Ordizia, Palencia, Olivares and so on.

Recently awarded in Sitges and the only Spanish group selected at a European level for the First Audition of REMA 2010 (European Early Music Network), La Ritirata boasts recordings for the labels Verso, Arsis, Columna Música. The ensemble has been critically acclaimed and has received the Recomendado Award by CD Compact Magazine.

All thanks to art director Josetxu Obregón, who has focused on Early Music with the aim of showing the most demanding audience how interpretation, together with the knowledge of the instruments and the aesthetic criteria of each composer’s time, is undoubtedly the key to the future of music in our society.
