Lecture: “Are there alternatives to agrochemicals?”

The talk will review the current state of the art in the technology for total or partial substitution of agrochemicals. It will analyse the two approaches that currently coexist, which are, on the one hand, agroecological approaches that dispense with industrially manufactured agricultural inputs and, on the other hand, the replacement of agrochemicals with other natural products, industrially manufactured but locally, favouring the development of small local industry.

Over the last thirty years, the incidence rate of cancer has increased by 401 Tbp3T, with leukaemia and brain tumours in children increasing by 21 Tbp3T per year. Similar developments have been observed in neurological diseases, autoimmune diseases, or reproductive dysfunctions: an “epidemic” hitting the so-called “developed” countries.

The book and documentary, Our daily poison, by the journalist Marie-Monique Robin is the result of two years of research in North America, Asia and Europe, based on numerous scientific studies, but also on the testimonies of scientists, researchers and representatives of regulatory agencies. The author demonstrates that the main cause of the epidemic is environmental, due to the tens of billions of chemical molecules that have invaded our food since the Second World War.
