The seed, the basic unit of plant reproduction, is the most practical and efficient way to collect, transport, study and store plant diversity, as it corresponds to a compact, resistant and independent state within the life cycle of a plant. Each seed is potentially a new individual containing part of the genetic variability present in a whole population.
The main objective of this workshop is to establish and activate a seed archive containing melliferous and polliniferous plants adapted to the soil and climate of the Cerezales del Condado area. Through this process, we seek to expand the Cerezales library with a variety of beneficial species. These seeds will be valuable to nurture and strengthen our seed archive, thus enabling the conservation and reproduction of these species in the future.
ARCHIVAR - SEMILLAS is part of the cycle Pólenes 2023, in which we will seasonally look at the interrelationship between bees and plants. In addition, we will address the need to rethink as humans the concept of kinship through the crossing of knowledge and tools from both artistic practice and other disciplines.
