Going out to look for the wind is not an easy task. It emerges where it wants and when it wants: it doesn't understand waiting or places. Sometimes it appears channelled through devices and architectures, but it is difficult to find it in the open. In an exercise of invocation, we climb a mountain in the Curueño valley to arrange a meeting. We listen, deploying different technologies to establish a dialogue: organs, flutes, voices. A conversation with an interlocutor that flows between pipes and strings.

When we began the research for Sequence IX more than a year ago, we did it, of course, in the countryside. We visited churches where there were organs, paying attention to the sonorities of tamed winds, but we also travelled along paths where currents flowed. We were looking for a space where the presence of the air was relevant, where it would not go unnoticed.

The work of Raquel G. Ibáñez from different electronic devices that interact with air in movement converges with Ignacio Martínez and a series of wind instruments related at different levels with the territory. The first encounters revealed the difference: breathing is not the same between bodies, aerophones and technologies. The gaze became a necessary accomplice and gave way to the search for a joint breathing. When we went up to the castle, the complexity of the times was revealed and we understood the radical nature of the proposal. The call gave way to dialogue, dialogue to voice, voice to breath: finding the wind is nothing more than breathing together. Sharing breath with the chifla, the bird, the stone and the air.
