Exit and re-enter. To be.
Along its course, the flow of a river changes according to time and place. The stones rest, the trees border. Water moves.
Last winter we started a conversation with Gemma Luz Bosch to think together about how her work with ceramic instruments could relate to this territory. In her previous experience, clay and water become catalysts for the sound experience and propose spaces in which sound becomes tangible as movement.
The question we started from had to do with how we can establish a direct dialogue with structural elements for life: the wind, the river, the mountain. “Making place”, through the idea of sounding at y with, The project is a way of living together from here.
Putting elements in interaction becomes our tool: water sounds through the earth, earth through the air. We look for places that have been catalysts of collective experiences and the river manifests itself as one and many at the same time. Moved by the confluence of the Porma and the Curueño, the idea of neighbourhood materialises in hands, lungs and ears: Almudena, Daniel, José Ramón, Barbaño, Javier and Susana sound with us through the river. Also joining us is the artist José Cobos, whose experience with pre-Hispanic ceramic instruments from Ecuador and Latin America is essential to understand the movements of knowledge on a planetary scale.
The instruments that guide us are not artefacts designed for virtuosity, but tools at the service of the other: a flute that needs one person for the water to sound through it. Several flutes that need several neighbours for the river to sound through them. Bodies channel water to make the valley sound. Our relationship is traversed by actions such as shore, watering, soaking, drinking, crossing, listening, fishing, bathing. Going out and coming in again. To be.
