This programme presents compositions with a strong link to folklore, either by being directly inspired by diverse musical traditions or by exploring the duality between the contemporary and the roots. Pieces such as those by Manuel de Falla or Francisco Escudero exhibit specific features of the musical tradition of different Spanish regions, incorporating characteristic scales, intervals or rhythms. On the other hand, some works stand out for clearly differentiating between traditional and contemporary music by integrating folkloric flashes, as can be seen in the work of Juan de Dios or Iñaki Carcavilla.
Dúo Éire, formed by Marta Cubas Hondal and Elisa Ruiz Ibarlucea, was born in 2019 at Musikene - Conservatorio Superior de Música del País Vasco. In 2023 they won first prize at the XIII Concurso de Música de Cámara de la Ciudad de Ávila. They maintain a close relationship with composers of the current musical scene who have written works specifically for the duo such as Iñaki Carcavilla Garasa, Brais Novoa, Juan de Dios Ruiz, and Lorenzo Sorgi.
