The cycle Comensales invites us to rethink the act of eating as a space of encounter, affection and critical reflection.
It explores the origins of food, forms of production and sustainability, as well as the diverse ways of cooking and sharing. It also reflects on the bonds that are woven at the table, from care and hospitality to the tensions of power between hosts and guests. Through workshops and experiences throughout the year, it celebrates the capacity of food to bring us together, strengthening our connection to community and to the act of sharing.
Comensales is a space for learning in many directions that begins after several ethnobotanical experiences and, specifically, after Sara García's research residency with the project «Fuegos de alto grado» in the first edition of the NUDO/KNOT research stays in its 2022 call. In the period 2023-2025 the FCAYC Education team, together with Sara García, artist, and Ruben Barroso, gastronomist, begin to develop a research space together with a group of neighbours that from 2024 takes the form of a working group.
