Pollen

Pólenes is an educational cycle that, throughout the seasons, explores the interrelationships between bees, plants, humans and the new material culture. Its purpose is to rethink the concept of kinship from an expanded perspective, interweaving knowledge and tools from both artistic practice and other fields of knowledge, such as botany, ethnobotany and peasant knowledge.

During the spring, summer and autumn, Pólenes approaches different living and non-living beings: melliferous and pollen plants, bees and their apiaries, beekeepers and the processes linked to wax. In addition, during its first two years it approached wax as an inexhaustible resource that invites us to reflect on the artistic object, on its production processes as well as with what and with whom.

This cycle is born as a consequence of other cycles and projects such as Labranzas, Herbarium and the permanent working group Hacendera abierta as well as the previous relationship with related projects such as the Biosphere Reserve of Omaña y Luna. Laura Salguero, artist, and Sali Rubio, former teacher of wild plants and beekeeping, are the people in charge of researching and activating this learning space in the 2022, 2023 and 2024 cycle. .
