At Straightened 2012, we have had the opportunity to have a workshop given by the collective lalalalab.org: “Cinema on a stroll. Rumours, stories and fictions in the public space.”.
Clara Boj and Diego Díaz's proposal was very attractive for the children who signed up for the workshop. It was the creation of a film with interactive elements that can only be seen through a mobile application and thanks to its GPS technology.
They have written the script and interpreted the story themselves; a “Mystery in Cerezales” that includes a disappearance and a murder, which the spectator must solve by himself, going through the village from one location to another. According to the participants, the script was based on legends and myths known to them.
Once in Cerezales del Condado, those interested in watching this peculiar film will have to download an application on their mobile (see instructions below) and start watching it. During the film, the viewer will be required to go to different specific points in the village and, until the GPS on their mobile phone recognises that they are there, they will not be able to see the next scene.
A mixture between cinema and video game, which allows an interactive experience to the visitor of Cerezales, while walking through the village.
To install the Mystery in Cerezales application:
Requirements Mobile phone with GPS and Android 2.1 operating system or higher.
Step 1 – Downloading and copying videos to the mobile phone
From a computer download the videos from this link: http://www.lalalab.org/tmp/VideosFinales.zip
Decompress these videos
Connect the mobile phone to the computer and copy the videos to the SD card in the folder: /media/video.
The videos should look like this:
/media/video/Scene0.m4v
/media/video/Scene1.m4v
etc.
Step 2 - Download and install the application
On the mobile phone, activate the possibility to install programs from unknown sources in Settings/Applications/Unknown sources.

Once the download is finished, click on the downloaded file to install the programme.
IMPORTANT:
