«Metamorfose» by Suelen Estar Quartet closes the Spring Sounds 2025 series at FCAYC

On 13 April 2025, the cycle will end. Sounds of Spring comes to its third and last concert of this edition with a unique and fascinating proposal: Metamorphose, a string quartet programme that pays tribute to the work of American composer Caroline Shaw, winner of four Grammy Awards and the prestigious Pulitzer Prize for Music in 2013.

The Galician quartet Suelen Estar Quartet, known for its bold approach to contemporary classical music, will delve into the repertoire of Shaw, whose work is distinguished by its ability to fuse structure with spontaneity. Suelen Estar Quartet, captivated by the transformative and evocative power of Shaw's music, will offer an intimate concert that highlights the sonic innovation of the composer, who fuses influences from styles as diverse as free jazz, early music, contemporary music and experimental electronics.

Founded in 2011, Suelen Estar Quartet has established itself as a benchmark on the national classical scene, standing out as a pioneering group in the exploration of free improvisation on traditional string instruments. Their unique approach positions them as an authentic rara avis within the national classical music scene, always committed to exploring the limits and sonic possibilities of their instruments in each performance. FCAYC Auditorium at 12.30 p.m. Admission will be free, but an invitation is required, which can be obtained easily through the website www.fcayc.org. This event is aimed at all audiences, with an accessible proposal for classical music lovers, as well as for those interested in exploring new languages and sounds.
