María graduated from Madrid’s Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura with a degree in architecture. Her research focuses on the effects that artificial intelligence, computational technology, and model-based design processes have on the built environment and interpersonal relationships. To this purpose, she pursues an interdisciplinary collaboration-based practice that blends research with various practical exploration projects. CA2M, Instituto de Estudios Postnaturales, IEDMadrid Innovation Lab, La Casa Encendida, and Matadero Madrid are some of the institutions or platforms with whom she collaborates. She is one-third of bwelke and was a member of the PAPER Architectural Histamine platform.
She has recently concluded the program The Terraforming, at Strelka Institute for Media, Architecture and Design in Moscow, platform with which she continues the development of the Peak Face project that proposes the definition of a facial phase of the terraforming process and speculates on the possible transformations of the role of the face in the future of the planet.
