Duo Éire

Dúo Éire, formed by Marta Cubas Hondal and Elisa Ruiz Ibarlucea, came into being in 2019 at Musikene – the Basque Country Higher Music Conservatoire, a place that has fostered their growth both individually and as a duo. Since then, they have shared many hours of collaborative work, which was reflected in the XIII Ávila City Chamber Music Competition, where they won first prize in 2023. Previously, they were also awarded first prize in the ‘V Aris del Puerto Accordion Studies Interpretation Competition’ in the chamber music category.

In addition to this, they are a duo that maintains a close relationship with composers on the current music scene. They recently premiered a work composed expressly for them, ‘Borina’, by Iñaki Carcavilla Garasa, and will soon premiere works by Brais Novoa, Carcavilla, Juan de Dios Ruiz, and Lorenzo Sorgi, composed through very close collaboration between the composers and the performers. They have received masterclasses from musicians such as Veli Kujala, Stefan Hussong, Marko Sevarlic, Iñaki Diéguez, Philippe de Ezcurra, Miren Iñarga, and Iñaki Alberdi, among others.
