Maria Casares

María Casares started dancing at a very young age, dancing at home to the newsreel song. With that little wiggle she went to study at the Institut del Teatre and went on to the experimental contemporary dance school SEAD in Salzburg.

She likes to eat a lot, which gives her extra energy and means she can't stand still. Since she returned to León in 2018 she has created DADO (First prize ARTE JOVEN artes escénicas Castilla y León in 2020), PER SE (Audience Award at the Certamen Coreográfico de Madrid 2020) and in 2023 she premieres BLOP, her first proposal for children.

She studied Physical Education Teaching at the University of Barcelona and has taught many different things since she started at the age of 16 (aerobics, funky, step, initiation to dance, swing, salsa, jazz...). Now she's a mum and in between takes she teaches regular classes of contemporary dance and lindy hop in León.
