Patricia Mayayo

Patricia Mayayo (Madrid, 1967) is Professor of Art History at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. Her research focuses on the history of women artists, feminist and queer historiography, and the study of contemporary artistic practices. In recent years she has focused her research on the study of Spanish art and has published, together with Jorge Luis Marzo, the book Art in Spain, 1939-2015. Ideas, practices, policies (Madrid, Cátedra, 2015). She is the author, among other publications, of the books Frida Kahlo. Against the myth (Madrid, Cátedra, 2008), Stories of women, stories of art (Madrid, Cátedra, 2003) and Louise Bourgeois (Hondarribia, Nerea, 2002). She has curated the exhibitions Territories that matter. Gender, art and ecology , together with Juan Guardiola at the Centro de Arte y Naturaleza - CDAN (Huesca) from October 2018 to January 2019 and Feminist Genealogies in Spanish Art: 1960-2010, with Juan Vicente Aliaga, at the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Castilla y León (León) from June 2012 to January 2013.
