Herbarium 2022. Picking colours

In all our villages we know flowers that can nourish, that can heal, that are used for weaving. They have been passed down like a secret between generations. But what has happened to the knowledge of plants with the ability to give colour?

We shall go to colors month by month, for an entire year, until we have completed a calendar of plant gathering from our area.

We will start with a trip where we will chat and collect the necessary material to work during the second day.

On the second day we’ll learn about color extraction processes and different animal and vegetable-based textile fibers; we’ll experiment with different color variables using modifiers; we’ll collect recipes, formulas, and stories associated with each plant; we’ll keep track of our findings in a collection calendar; and, finally, we’ll share our findings with anyone interested in getting into the world of color craftsmanship.
