Herbarium 2022. Go to colours. July: Elder
5 and 6 July, from 17:00 to 19:00
Adults >16 years old
With Ana Andrés Cristóbal and Estrella Alfaro
Free registration from 28 June, at 10:00 a.m.
The role that elderberry has played in the imagination of the people who have lived with it is as fascinating as it is ambiguous. Elder has been part of the European pharmacopoeia for more than two thousand years. Popularly used for its medicinal properties as an ingredient in numerous recipes or as a primary material for the manufacture of spontaneous toys, in this summer session of Herbarium we will begin to explore it as a dyeing material.
Commonspoly: Future Energy
20 and 21 July, from 16:30 to 20:30
Adults >16 years old
With ZEMOS98 + MEDINAT
Free registration from 4 July at 10:00 a.m.
«Commonspoly: future energy» is conceived as a space for co-creation in order to combine the cooperative board game Commonspoly with the issues of the natural environment and renewable energies in the Cantabrian Mountains. The main objective of this process will be to produce a version of the game based on the original that will allow us to take into account some of the specificities of the theme and the local context. In these sessions we will play Commonspoly in order to understand the game well (and have fun!) and to get to know the local context related to environmental issues.
Herbarium 2022. Go to colours. August: Hops
22, 23 and 24 August, from 17:00 to 19:00
>16 years
With Hop Ecologies
Free registration from 22 July, at 10:00 a.m.
In the 1980s, hops were called «green gold» because of their socio-economic importance. In the wake of an activity with such weight in the articulation of the territory and the markets, many questions arise today concerning production processes, relationships with the land, ways of populating it and transformations of lives that entail losses: What is a hop plantation, where does the hop seed come from, what is its value?
Cultivating Cultures: Hop Ecologies is a research platform on the image of hops, their residues and the recording of the memory of their cultivation cultures.

Echoes. Sound improvisation workshop
From 12 to 15 July, from 11:00 to 13:00
With Luis Martínez Campo, FCAYC
Free registration from 4 July at 10:00 a.m.
We will play with our voices, make strange noises and listen to the sounds of our surroundings. We will improvise in groups in different places: a classroom, a corridor, a corner of a storeroom, an empty room. We will play with musical instruments and with objects we can find around the house. And we will do it all at the same time, from different places, trying to hear the echo. Let's see what happens.

This short workshop aims to encourage listening and observation of the natural environment in which we find ourselves and, based on this awareness, to create small wind and percussion musical instruments. We will start by showing instruments made with natural elements (wood, leather, etc.) in different cultures, as well as their variety of sounds and aspects. Then, with dry reeds we will build simple instruments such as a kazzo or harpsichords. We will create rhythmic and melodic bases with which we will play together.
