A new collaborative period with the rural grouped schools in our area has begun. We work together each year, but from now on, it is as part of their curriculum. In this period we are going to make an approach to visual culture through cinema, thanks to a project named: “The Pillow Cinema”, with creator Ismael Aveleira’s help.

The project’s title refers to Japanese courtier Sei Shonagon’s novel “The Pillow Book”, written in X Century.This book used to be hidden under headboards or inside wooden pillows. Before sleep, the author had the habit to write informal lists of “things that make one’s heart beat”, “things that cannot be compared” or “disgusting things”, among others.

We aim to focus our attention on gestures and objects of daily life. All those daily things, maybe small things, which might be imperceptible.

To carry on this project, FCAYC’s educational area count with the help of creator Ismael Aveleira.
